The number of people quitting Dublin during the pandemic has spurred rent increases elsewhere, according to the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB).
Rents rose 7% between March 2020 and March 2021 compared with 2% in the capital.
Kilkenny is now seeing the biggest jumps rising 12.3% while Clare, Galway and Mayo all saw 10% jumps.
The Institute of Professional Auctioneers & Valuers (IPAV) have questioned how rents outside of Dublin could rise by 7% when rent pressure zones in many such places limit increases to 4%.
