Residential Property Price Register figures show how Ireland’s 10 priciest areas are in Dublin, while 7 of the 10 cheapest are west of the Shannon.
The difference in values based on location could come as a welcome news to anyone working remotely post Covid-19.
Buyers could purchase 7 houses in the cheapest eircode, Roscommon’s Castlerea, where the median selling price is €80,872. This is less than the cost of one home, valued at €612,188, in the priciest spot – Blackrock in South Dublin.
Sinn Fein’s housing spokesman Eoin O’Broin said while moving is an option for remote staff, it’s not an option for most workers. “The only thing that will solve the problem is affordable, quality rental or purchase accommodation no matter where they live.”
