Co-living developments to be halted over concerns about high number of developments

Co-living developments are to be halted over concerns about the high number of such proposed developments.

Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien said he was concerned that the high number of applications coupled with the high density of the developments would increase land prices.

It is reported that there are 1,670 bed spaces either approved or in the planning system. Applications already made will not be affected by the ban.

New guidance will be issued to local authorities “that there would be a presumption to refuse applications for co-living, shared accommodation type developments”.
